The building I work in holds a contest in December for the best Christmas theme door decorations. These are our entries the two years we participated.
2019 – “Santa stuck in the chimney”
This was a group effort. A motion sensor triggered a Raspberry Pi that started music playing and turned on the Christmas lights. It also triggered an Arduino that moved Santa’s legs and spun a fan and pulsed LEDs for the fire effect.
2021 – “Animatronic Reindeer”
I pulled this entry together myself. I wanted to do a reindeer, so when I found this at Hobby Lobby I knew it was perfect. I had already made the moving ears and eye mechanism on the 3D printer, and they fit this skeletal reindeer wall decoration perfectly. I only had about one day to throw it together before the deadline, but I was able to assemble and program it in about 6 hours.
